Trackmaster/Plarail Double-sided coupler

Hi everyone,

I wanted to connect two motorised trains together without much modification so my bullet trains can run both ways. This is the result of the project.



Since I was the one who wanted these, I had to pay more to get these first ones. I was thinking if anyone else is interested so we can all get a better price. My friend isn't so keen on making these double-sided couplers because he doesn't need them.

They're currently USD $0.85 a piece. I'm willing to haggle if a large number of people want them. Otherwise, I'll just pay whatever for the number I need and be done with it.

So what you plan on is to have a motorized front engine along with a motorized rear engine just the the real Bullet trains? Couldn't you cut a couple hooks and Super Glue them together. Or use a spare receiver side of a coupling which will have 2 holes and use it to connect 2 hooks on the other end of the train. Just an idea.

Yes, two ends of my train will be motorised.

Super glue to glue such a small surface area on a part that is subject to tension is not a good idea. It also means I need to break two perfectly fine and working hooks.

The rear side of all trains is always a receiving end so you do not have a need to have two hooks connecting together unless you want a completely UNmotorised train set.

This is also why there is only the double-sided hook and not a double-sided ring because you don't need double-sided rings.

I may be interested in a couple Plarnold, not that I need them at the moment, but who knows in the future

These are genius! I have a solution for ring on ring, (Arthur has a ring on both ends, designed to shunt/pull trucks either way) and I made a connector type thing that works so two rings can work together and it works under load well to.

Another solution is to switch one of the coupling with the coupler used by murdorch's tender

Leylandvictory2 is exactly right, I had forgotten about that idea as I have used it a few time to create back to back type double engine trains. Simply swap out a holed receiver on any middle car had you will have a car with a hook on each end.

I'm sure I've said this before, but I don't like sabotaging other working parts to achieve something. All my parts are working.

This coupler was the cleanest and easiest solution to this problem that is fully compatible with all trains. It is also easily reversible with no tools required. No one gets hurt.

If anyone is interested, please be specific. I need to know how much for me to actually persuade the maker to make these things.

At the moment though, it seems I will be paying the price he wants because only I need it.

Sorry Plarnold, I meant no disrespect. Your idea is in fact a quick solution with no dismantling involved..

Oh, hahaha. There was no offence taken.

I was just pointing out the differences between the hooks and the other excellent solutions proposed by the members of these forums including yours.

With people that are not afraid to modify things, I suppose these 'neat' solutions are not being sought after.

Personally, I don't mind if no one is interested because I can simply pay up and get what I want. I'm just giving everyone else a chance to also get their hands on this so I am not the only one. I suppose the only benefit I'd get along the way is that the prices would go down if more people want it.
