flip face trackmaster frustration

and frustration is being nice about it! LOL. Angry

just wasted a couple hours trying to build a nice, basic layout incorporating the flip face toby and his copper mine, the flip face points and straights and the load flip points from the arthur set.

finally got the tracks to sit nice and flat with as little flex as possible, and actually made a loop that didnt double back on itself.

chucked toby on along with arthurs flip truck. toby promptly beached himself on the truck flipping track, due to the activation tab.
dont even get me started on arthurs tunnel not fitting over the track properly and everything getting caught up. sheesh!

arthurs truck got stuck on the truck trigger on tobys mine piece. seems that after toby goes over, the tab pops up and wont give when the next truck gets there. also the face flip trigger on that same piece doesnt seem to poke up unless the switch is set to stop, depsite there being a setting on the switch called "flip face"

i was looking forward to showing this "magic" layout off, but have given up. feel like have a couple of expensive shelf queens right now.

Bummer!

This is the regular Toby and not Revolution right?
super, yes. its the HIT flip face toby. might look at filing down the track trigger for him, rather than his activation tab. spent too much to go at him with tools!

I take it that the trigger part is not the one that came with the Mine set but the one for the Arthur set? Hope you get it worked out as I am curious to see what you "magic" layout looks like
memory serves me right then the trigger mechanisms are different for engines and trucks . The engine one is normally a solid block whilst the truck changer is usually 2 parallel pieces and set slightly higher and are situated differently in the track so shouldn't work both ways

super, yes. i used tobys mine, arthurs mine track and the flip face track. took ages to get it right as the points would double back and send the engine the wrong way.

t&p, correct, they are different. the truck ones are central and quite high, which is what toby was beaching on. the truck for arthur was doing the same, but on a piece from tobys mine track.

i will keep thinking, but might scrap the idea. lol.

the latter idea...
You'll have to set it up for only one or the other..Sad SOOO many countless hours logged fiddling with ill conceived Fisher Price designs and poorly engineered incompatible sets all the while mumbling and muttering under my breath many curses of condemnation of this company!
I feel ya sunhuntin..
Play nice & have fun!!Smile
