A rather novel idea, but rather unnecessary. I figured I'd try to attach a wooden railway car without it, and it worked just fine! Take a look:

It's not as oversized as I thought it would be, so I think I may have an intermittent solution to the lack of passenger stock in the TnP line! Although, a TnP to Ertl adapter would be nice...
