Bumble Bee James - kmott - 03-14-2015 Hi Again, I scored this bumblebee James at a local kids consignment sale (BTW, great deals, got BBJ, a Thomas, Annie and Claribel for 10$). I feel very manly cause the wires in the James were severed and I rewired & Soldered them. Next step is to maybe change the motor, he is really slow. The big problem (other than super slow) is that he sticks on ramps, crossings, etc. I've ordered some of those replacement rubber wheel thingies. I'm wondering about weighting the engine? Any suggestions? also, I plan on just using duct tape to cover the battery. Anyone know of replacements? Oops wrong pic Picture RE: Bumble Bee James - Tramp - 03-14-2015 It might be your new cables between the tender and the engine...... In this video I replaced the cables after the 3v modification, at the bottom of the slope you can see how he stalls and slide forward on his own momentum? I'd used stiffer than normal cables and wrapped them in heat shrink in an effort to protect them, it prevented the coupling flexing properly and made the drive wheels lift clear of the tracks on slopes, definatly worth checking for! RE: Bumble Bee James - sunhuntin - 03-14-2015 some covers here, not sure if one will fit james or not. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Tomy-Plarail-Thomas-Trackmaster-Replacement-Tender-Battery-Covers-/371277080940?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item5671d6a96c RE: Bumble Bee James - ROCKINATOR - 03-14-2015 Even if the cover didn't fit, you could cut the tabs to make it fit. RE: Bumble Bee James - kmott - 03-15-2015 Hmm, interesting and I NEVER would have thought of the wire other pics another one (03-14-2015, 07:12 PM)sunhuntin Wrote: some covers here, not sure if one will fit james or not. thanks, saw those, something about spending 10 bucks on coal covers for a train that cost me next to nothing. ill just use black duct tape km |
