Motorized RC Ace - mitzalplik - 12-14-2022

I made an RC Ace. I used the top of Ace from a TM2 Thomas & Ace and inserted the RC bottom from a Mini Rapid Racer (with some modding to make them fit) and here we go:

I took the rubber off the front wheels so Ace can navigate around the road tracks.

This looks familiar, was there another member who had one of these?

I wouldn't know. But this IS inspired by a YouTuber name CustomTrackmasters, but for some reason, he didn't offer any way of how he he did it. Do you think someone did it before him?

RE: Motorized RC Ace - Super - 12-14-2022

It may have been a CustomTrackmaster video that I am remembering. I thought he did have a video on how he did but I could be wrong...I have been wrong before 😒 At any rate, yours is neat. 👍

He did something better in an update where he removed the RC function and just made it like an on/off switch much like the TM road vehicles but just like his RC video he didn't offer any guidance on how he did it although I could figure it out like the original RC vid. The reason why I say this (not trying to be boastful) is because there's a big downside with making the car RC less and it's the battery (most likely button cell) that has to be constantly changed and I'm betting he soldered it to the motor (maybe I don't know). I liked the RC idea instead because I can charge it. Right at the bottom of the car, there's a port. and inside the car is a lithium battery in the shape of a small capacitor so keeping it powered is convenient. Sorry for the long response.

Edit*: but you know, now that I actually put some thought into it they DO sell button cell battery holders so he could've soldered wires to that and pop the battery in/out.... You know ..I might actually do that one day. Those button cell batteries are made with silver nowadays so they're not as volatile anymore to leave inside. I don't know...maybe.

Of course you are right Mitz, I just looked over his videos and see the one where its nor an R/C.

One of Muddy's videos?

And, of course, Dr Chris...Master Researcher comes through again...

Oh cool I look forward to watching this, should I remove this gallery since it seems like this wasn't needed.

Certainly Not!
