Hornby TT120 Catalogue - Nigels - 12-12-2022 Hi Folks, Firstly, sorry for posting this in the OO Gauge section, but we don't have a TT120 section yet. Anyway I received today a copy of the Hornby catalogue of TT120 range, not all of this is available now, but it will mostly all be available between now and end of 2023. I just wanted to share the contents as its quite interesting to see how big the range is going to be and how serious the company is about this new scale. Anyway, enough rabbiting, here's the pictures to speak for me... RE: Hornby TT120 Catalogue - Donald9Douglas10Oliver11mp - 12-13-2022 The 9f will be nice to go with the freight rolling stock Hornby have made. The castel is probably my favourite, mostly because it's the only GWR locomotive 😊 RE: Hornby TT120 Catalogue - Nigels - 12-13-2022 As I understand it this is only the beginning of the range, having watched one of the Q&A videos on Utube about the TT120 range they have BIG plans for this new line. This will include many other loco's and rolling stock including other GWR loco's, it's showing great promise based on the initial set I just got. The loco/coaches in that were way better than I was expecting based on their website product images, although I suspect they may have been based on pre-production models. As far as that set goes about the only gripe I would have is that the pullman cars are not lit, however the separately available ones are, I suspect this was a decision made to keep the production costs of the set down a bit to make it more affordable. However I for one would have paid a bit more to have had those lit as well RE: Hornby TT120 Catalogue - Super - 12-13-2022 Love those resin buildings, Wish they were bigger to accommodate Plarails 😊 RE: Hornby TT120 Catalogue - Nigels - 12-13-2022 They already make a substantial range of buildings in OO gauge which would be ideal for PlaRail mate RE: Hornby TT120 Catalogue - Donald9Douglas10Oliver11mp - 12-13-2022 As far as I can tell all the TT ones are available in oo guage, witch is perfect for plarail locos, however the resin ones(from the skaledale range) can get quite pricey RE: Hornby TT120 Catalogue - Nigels - 12-13-2022 (12-13-2022, 08:54 PM)Donald9Douglas10Oliver11mp Wrote: As far as I can tell all the TT ones are available in oo guage, witch is perfect for plarail locos, however the resin ones(from the skaledale range) can get quite pricey Totally agree, they can get pricey and of course they are heavy so expensive to post/ship as well, especially internationally. Although I believe that Hornby do have a USA operation so they probably can be bought somewhere in the USA if not from the distributor. BTW, I missed the last page from the catalogue (well I didn't include all the trees and other landscaping stuff)... RE: Hornby TT120 Catalogue - Super - 12-13-2022 I find that HO/OO scaled buildings are still too small for our Plarails. I do agree that real scale wise, HO/OO figures fit perfectly with all Plarail trains moreso than Plakids. HO/OO buildings and scenery look very small next to Plarail buildings and scenic pieces and Plakids look like giants next to them. RE: Hornby TT120 Catalogue - Nigels - 12-14-2022 Well there you go, I always thought that OO/HO was about right for PlaRail, but I guess I'm just basing that on the rolling stock rather than the PlaRail buildings themselves. I guess if they were made to OO/HO scale then they would likely be too delicate for small hands which would explain it, so instead they are made more 'toy-like' to give them the robustness they need for the real intended audience. ;-) RE: Hornby TT120 Catalogue - Super - 12-14-2022 I find that the 'S' scale is closer to the PlaKids and Plarail Buildings but then that scale is too big next to the Plarail Trains so I guess any of these scales would work if the Layouts would be one or another. HO/OO Figures are a perfect size with the Plarail trains but I think your thoughts on the Plarail size of figures and buildings made more for the little hands is spot on. 👍 |
