A question for our Trackmaster Thomas experts...

Does this HiT Toy Company cattle wagon exist in any form other than these two?

Excellent question Dr Chris...one I don't recall ever been asked before. The only ones that come to my mind are all a handful of the Livestock Wagon you aren't looking for in various different colors. I don't recall any more of the ones you are looking for. Am a smelling a possible future custom wagon or another of your great research and information projects?

Well, one thing does tend to lead to another.....
At the moment I'm trying to identify the real-life Japanese versions of the Plarail freight wagons that were later re-purposed into Thomas / Awdrey / Sodor rolling stock. The HiT cattle wagons above don't fall into that category though, as they have no Plarail antecedents - I got sidetracked!

It does seem a little strange that HiT would make a lovely cattle wagon and then never actually sell it as one.

Yep, resembles it a bit. There are two variants of this one, the Sodor Horse Show (V7958) and the Livestock Cars (V2565). Mattel 2011.

These would be really good if the hinges weren't so big and clunky.
