Thomas GRAVESTONE? - GriffinrailsOfficial - 08-30-2021

Yesterday I was walking down to Loftus and discovered THIS...

EDIT: I must specify that it was NEXT to a cemetery, it's inside a stonemasons shop.

I am not sure I am amazed or sad. Bet that carved stone cost a bucket of money or do they now have CNC machines that cut stone/granite? Or is it fake stone? Hmmm

RE: Thomas GRAVESTONE? - DalaGStanator - 08-30-2021

Unfortunately, this is not the first time I've seen one. Thomas themed/inspired headstones and memorials have been around for years, apparently without Allcroft/HiT/Mattel doing anything (or failing) to stop them. Some go as far as using the original colours and I even found ones with James and Henry, for instance. "Disgraceful, Disgusting, Despicable".

Your description in the video says you where going past a cemetery.

Instead of all the people here going on about the death of Thomas, Mattel etc

Take a moment and think about the little child that is buried under that head stone / grave stone.
Do you think his mum or dad wanted to have to bury there child?
The child was a big fan of Thomas and I think it is beautiful that for that child, Thomas brought him happiness in some dark times while sick, and will continue to bring a smile to the child's parents and family forever.  Thomas has always brought happiness to the young and will continue too in what ever form he comes out in.
As a parent myself, the cost of the headstone is nothing when your child is gone forever.  It helps to remind you of the things they liked and what made them happy.

it looks more like a mason who is displaying their products outside, kind of like a garden or landscape centre has garden ornaments outside. no cemetary would be that crowded!!

i also fail to see issue with parents who have, as AOF said, laid their child to rest choosing to have a monument of a much loved character without seeking permission from mattel, who we all know would say no or charge a licensing fee.

i heard of a man that died a number of years ago, he was a big-time harley davidson fan. when he passed, his widow approached HD for permission to use their logo on his headstone, and was turned down. if memory serves, the mason put the mans motorcycle instead.

Correct, it is a mason. I think why he said "unfortunately" is because of the death itself.
