Roco HO German Steamer - Dampflok BR 01 150 (Museum Edition) - Nigels - 07-25-2018

Ok folks here's the latest beauty I've just added to my collection.  For those in the know Roco (Austria) make some of the most detailed, well made and good running loco's and rolling stock you can buy.  Well this one is no different, except it is even more detailed than their normal line as it is a special 'Museum' edition.  It is a 2-6-2 steam loco and absolutely beautiful (Super - lots of rivets for you too) and comes in a beautiful wooden box with a hard back book giving the history of the loco (in German unfortunately Smile).

Enjoy!

Wow Nigels, that is a great looking engine!

Thanks OTR, roco products truly are superb if you can get them at a good and are HO so work nicely on American layouts ;-)

Oh my...Wow...look at all that detail...the rivets, the piping...even the brakes. I can't stop looking at it. I am curious as to why the Tender does't seem to have riveting, they must have run out of rivets on the engine. Great pickup Nigels and what a fantastic case and book that go along with it. Are there at least lots of pictures in the book? What year might this model have been released in?

I believe the popular translator apps allow you to scan photos with foreign languages and translate them, so you may find something interesting on the engine.

I wonder if the smooth sided tender is a welded, post-war rebuild? I know that the Class 41 2-8-2s that remained in West German service had major rebuilding done in the 50s-60s, including all new welded boilers.

Good question OTR, maybe I'll have to try freds suggestion and try translating the book, it probably has the full history of the loco if it's like the UK equivalent type packages from Hornby etc...

Btw thanks for the suggestion Fred, very good one :-D

Might there also be an English version of the book out there?

Not likely super, Roco are an Austrian company and are only imported to the UK as far as I know :-)

Yeah, it seems like every book on The Damflok 01 150 on Amazon is in German.
