Not as futuristic as you think! It's a model of a Meitetsu 7000 Series 'Panorama Car'. They went into service in the 60's and retired in 2009. Smile

A bit like the Concorde airliner, looks way more futuristic than anything currently around now, yet that was designed/built in the 70's Big Grin

Sometimes progress is not progress, its just boring... Smile

Wellllll...there is the futuristic Ultra-Q!!!

RE: futuristic red train - bollard - 05-22-2018

nice, i like that but the red looked good too

RE: futuristic red train - Trainfanz - 05-22-2018

Oh boy, another thing I know a tiny bit about! Ultra Q was what I'd best describe as a Japanese equivalent of The Twilight Zone. Following it's conclusion, it was followed up by the first of the Ultraman series'.

Here's where I had to do my research. This particular Plarail train is referencing the final episode of the series - in which a flying Odakyu 3100 transports it's riders to a place known as the Vary Dimension.

The coloring of the Plarail version serves only to replicate the black and white programs of the time. It was the 60's! Smile

That picture is also on the trains box. I like how you can see the fishing wire holding it up.

My favorite and I think the harder to find and at a higher cost is the rec panorama with the white stripe Pictured here.
