Do You Recognize This Thomas??? - Super - 03-22-2018

I have just received a ton of Thomas and Friends trains in a big box and just going through them now. The seller said that none of them are working but I have found that a lot of them are talking engines and possible R/C's without the remotes. All the talking engines actually work as I don't think the seller realized when they tested them that you had to press the hidden button on the engine to make them work after turning the on/off switch to on. Anyway, this very nicely built Thomas (except for the stupid holes in the wheels) was in the box and I don't know what he is. The cool blue box car with flat black roof uses 2 AA batteries and Thomas opens up with a screw for one AA battery. 2010 Mattel. I can't locate any pictures like this version especially with the flat black cab roof with filled in flat black windows. I want to say its an R/C but I don't see the receiver unless its under the coal which remains on the motor when Thomas's shell is removed. It also doesn't work when I put batteries in which R/C engines don't if you don't have the remote. The only one I can find that comes close to that blue boxcar with flat black roof may be the 3 speed R/C Thomas but it has smoke puffs stickers.

Any idea?

My vote is for the three speed Thomas, just based off the battery configuration. That said, I had two versions of the three speed Gordon, one with the smoke and one with out, so it is possible Thomas was the same?

^ I thought the 3-Speed engines had the clouds on the side?

You are right Ripley...don't you get tired of being right all the time?

yes all 3 speeds first were released with the "puffs" on them.
then very quickly were released without them

Thanks Super. Yeah, this was one that happened by chance. I had just ended up with both versions at one point. The bad thing is I sold the one without puffs/clouds since it did not match the others I had with the clouds/puffs. :dodgy:

@Muddy
I will keep an eye out for the rest of these without the clouds/puffs. :D
