Why I like consignment sales! - Off The Rails - 09-30-2017 Here in my part of the US, we see a few kids' consignment sales a year. These are where people sell their kids' outgrown clothes, toys, baby items and the like. Since we have two small children, these sales are great for us to find clothes and shoes and of course, cheap toys! Today's score was a mostly intact Trackmaster Castle Quest with plenty of extra TM1 track and four TM1 engines. James, Percy and two Thomases with the molded rear light housing. One Thomas suffered a battery leak and will probably be consigned to Daddy's parts box but the others ran and were in decent shape except Percy having a missing funnel. The missing track pieces in the Castle Quest set (where the crane swings around and replaces the missing track) can be replaced with standard TM1 curved sections. Best of of all, this huge bag of stuff cost a mere $15 USD! I would've posted a photo but the sprogs are going nuts with the stuff right now. Mattel still has the instructions posted online, so I was able to get it assembled and I get to be a temporary hero to my kids! LOL RE: Why I like consignment sales! - ActionChugger - 09-30-2017 Nice! My son and I do the same and sometimes scouts local yard sales. It's a treasure hunt adventure RE: Why I like consignment sales! - ripley802 - 10-01-2017 Exactly as AC said, treasure hunt. My best score was a large bag of probably 50-60 engines. I kept a few then resold the rest for a nice little profit. RE: Why I like consignment sales! - Super - 10-01-2017 Good for you all as I am sure you all have gotten great deals. I am just not into any garage, yard sales or the resale or consignment shops, its just not in my makeup. I am not a browser shopper, I have to know what I going to the store for before I go in so I just can't bring myself into doing it. I know I am missing out. I have only been to maybe 3 Yard sales and probably the same amount of times to the Charity shops. For that matter I probably have only been into a Dollar type store about 3 times not including Big Lots or Five & Below which I visit during the Holidays for stocking stuffers. I know there is plenty of incredible deals out there and I am missing out and I am glad you guys are part of saving these treasures and or recycling them. I do like hearing your stories of discovery thou but...LOL...it doesn't inspire me to go out myself...LOL Now, Go out and get them deals RE: Why I like consignment sales! - Off The Rails - 10-01-2017 Super, I generally have NO luck at yard sales, flea markets and charity stores. The kids consignment sales and also resale shops wouldn't be on my radar if I didn't have young children and a wife who is a great bargain hunter.
