Plarail Derek - 783Merlin - 09-30-2017 i bought a custom plarail derek that was wip and its very similar to ucwepns version http://www.ebay.com/itm/Custom-Plarail-Thomas-Friends-Derek-WIP-/132343485324?hash=item1ed049538c:g:a0QAAOSwEWJZzEUw RE: Plarail Derek - Off The Rails - 09-30-2017 Cool! I was really tempted by that but I just don't have time to do any extensive repairs at the moment. I did buy DD-14 with snow plow and dummy DE-10 from the same seller, so I'm looking forward to getting that. RE: Plarail Derek - 783Merlin - 09-30-2017 Nice RE: Plarail Derek - ripley802 - 09-30-2017 Great score OTR, I was watching that one as well, debating should I or shouldn't I.. I have the engine and sound car but am missing the plow piece. They come up sometimes pretty cheap on the Japan auctions so I figured I may try and get it there eventually. RE: Plarail Derek - Off The Rails - 09-30-2017 I was happy to find it on eBay since I don't have an account with any of the Japanese shopping services at the moment. My plan is to use the DD-14 in regular freight service and eventually find a running chassis for the DE-10 too. I'm not sure of my long term plans for the plow but it'll make an appearance on this year's Christmas layout! Sounds like 783Merlin might need a new running chassis too. Any of you folks with spare running DD-51/DE-10 chassis sitting around...you may have a couple customers if you want to sell 'em! RE: Plarail Derek - Super - 09-30-2017 Isn't the shell of your DE-10 glued down OTR? I have had about ten of the those red dummy DE-10's and can't remember if its the one that came in the Snow Plow set like yours or the same one that came in the double DE-10 Fan Club Set or both that were glued down. I did manage to diligently un-stick a few to do as you want (use a motorized chassis) but on my first try I did break one of the tabs off. RE: Plarail Derek - Off The Rails - 09-30-2017 I don't know because I haven't received it yet. I hope not but it's not really a big deal if it is since I can doublehead it with the blue DE-10 I bought from you. RE: Plarail Derek - Super - 09-30-2017 There also also the 'Plug' used to cover the opening where an on/off switch was that is glued on which on some is easy to get off and on others a little trickier. For the Plug its best to use a flat Xacto blade from the underside of the shell. However if they used too much glue near the clips of the shell where it holds on to the chassis then its pretty much impossible to get the shell off without breaking those tabs. Because I wanted that bit darker shade of grey chassis with the white handrails for dummys of the other DD51's and DE10s I have I bought many of these and most I had to cut the shell off at the tabs before I could remove the part that was glued to the chassis.
