Not that I have seen in the Midwest. It seems like they all are straight to DVD.

Yea for all previous releases it was digital/DVD/Blu-ray only for the USA, but I noticed IMDB says "USA 22 August 2017 (Cinema premiere)".

maybe in certain theaters. Sadly thomas is not as poplar as before. Thomas and the Magical Railroad is most likely the last movie showed in majority of the theaters out there

If I remember correctly this was also the case (where Thomas movies/specials are only shown in select theaters) with the other recent films. However, select theaters very much means select theaters and it might just be with certain privately owned ones.
