Why is Oliver so expensive? - Tharazero1 - 06-05-2017

Hi guys, a lot of you have tomy olivers and i have one myself but I was just wondering why they are so expensive? It's just a normal train but why is it so expensive and sought after. I don't get the reason for paying over $75 for a train that was produced in millions upon millions just like every other train in the tomy/plarail/trackmaster line.

Simply because it was never released in all markets, so therefore in some countries like the USA it can only be bought as an import... Smile

On my case I paid for Oliver £50 on Amazon UK, that means $62,48. So on Amazon UK was much cheaper than Ebay

Ok, hold on. It's expensive because:

1) He was never released in the US

2) He's VERY RARE

3) He was only released in the UK and Japan

There have been a few instances where singular countries have received exclusive releases...Flip face Toby at the Copper Mine set (USA), Muddy Gordon & Muddy Spencer (UK), as well as Target, Walmart, and other chain exclusives, that all bring premiums in countries and areas where they aren't readily available.

Just wondering aren't there 2 versions, one that is marked as 2003 tomy and the other one 1998 tomy. Mine is 2003 but which one is rarer?
