What Could This Be? - Super - 12-31-2016 Caught a glimpse of this in a recent YouTube Video which I can't understand since its in Japanese. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3iEc9wA4GD0 What could it be? Is it even Plarail? Possibly a future release? Anyone know? Why do I ask so many questions? RE: What Could This Be? - Nigels - 12-31-2016 Well unless its a 'custom' it is definitely PlaRail if you go by the track, piers and plakids in the foreground. It looks a bit like a modified version of the 500 shinkansen maybe, perhaps a new shinkansen variant just in service or about to be released to service in Japan? Either way it seems to have some interesting new features for a PlaRail model, simulated bogies on the sides of the carriages and what looks to be a far more modern/detailed pantograph depicted on the roof of the leading/trailing car. I'd definitely want to add it to my collection for sure ![]() RE: What Could This Be? - sunhuntin - 12-31-2016 almost looks like it was taken a plarail expo somewhere. the graphic on the top of the trailing car looks like the yellow plakid to me. i tried translating the comments and even turned on auto-translate with the closed captions, but didnt gain any furthur information on it. RE: What Could This Be? - Nigels - 12-31-2016 I didn't notice the label on the top - well spotted sun ![]() ![]() RE: What Could This Be? - Super - 12-31-2016 (12-31-2016, 07:11 PM)sunhuntin Wrote: almost looks like it was taken a plarail expo somewhere. That was my first thought too. RE: What Could This Be? - plarnold - 01-01-2017 The video is actually asking if anyone knows what happened to that Plarail in that picture. Apparently, it was showcased in a video in 2002 but was never sold. No one knows why it was never sold. -plarnold RE: What Could This Be? - Nigels - 01-01-2017 Well there's the answer, I'll never know why it wasn't sold either as it is a cool model, would have sold by the tens of thousands I reckon ![]() RE: What Could This Be? - Super - 01-01-2017 Thank you so much Plarnold for the translation and explanation. It is strange that it was showcased in a 2002 video but then fell off the radar by anyone. I find the roof sticker odd with what looks like a PlaKid laying down on his back. And are those really fake bogies (I hate fake bogies) or some type of wheel coverings for aerodynamics. Guess we will never know. RE: What Could This Be? - Super - 01-03-2017 Apparently this train is called the Blue Shark and was presented at the 2002 Plarail Expo in Japan. They even mention under the pictures there was a video that was played at the Expo on it. Now that is something I would like to see. Anyone know of a video of the 2002 Expo? |
