Very Old Tomiyama Set - Super - 10-12-2016
Take a look at this very old Tomiyama set especially the unusually steep ramp tracks which looks to be the length of a normal straight rail, 8.5" and not the typical twice the length ramps, 17" that we normally see now. Looks to be like a wooden or Brio compatible non motorized set but with blue plastic tracks. thats a gorgeous set! would be one of the first releases i think. just goes to show long our much loved BPT have been around, without any changes. [new track designs not included of course, like the flexi and multi points]

I don't know for sure but what I do know is that Logopedia states that this Logo was used from 1924 - 1963 http://logos.wikia.com/wiki/Tomy

I think prototype is kinda a poor choice of words on their part, more like precursor as it was mass produced, but was a precursor to the motorized sets we know today.

That is the first Plarail set released in 1959. The cars are unpowered. It was called "Plastic Car Rail Set"
Those slope rails are called "Slope Rail". That is why the current slope rails are called "New Slope Rail" in Japanese.
