Western River "Head lamp" mod - ripley802 - 09-28-2016
In a recent score from Japan I won another Western River Green Steamer. I won it really for the coach as the one that came with my other one had some sticker issues. The engine on this one also had a broken coupling.
I recently won some 3mm Grain of Wheat bulbs from eBay by way of China for a whole $2 shipped. The size of the bulb fits perfect in the Western Steamer. I like these bulbs because the are not as bright and "in your face" as led's and seem to fit the look a little better. Also they are 1.5v so perfect for the "C" or "AA" engines.
It is hard to tell in the pics a little, but with the fit and the brightness I am quite pleased.

Fantastic job, always wondered if this could be done to the Western Steams and now you have proved it so. Would look great if you did an Xmas layout again this year.

Thanks Super. Yeah it was not too bad. The lights I purchased are per wires and ready to go but I had to trim the wires down a bit. Other than that it went smooth.
I am hoping to start the Christmas layout soon. I think last year it was before Halloween even. I need to dismantle the existing layout but that should not be too bad.
