Vintage Plarail C-12??? - MuddyPoppins - 07-01-2016 Hello everyone, I am hoping someone can help me out about this one... This C-12 came in the lot today, and when I turned it over to open it I was met with an odd undercarriage that I'd never seen...then I noticed the front hook, but when I finally figured out how to open it I found this even crazier all metal drive unit inside too!! I am thinking this is a real oldie, but would appreciate someone's real expert opinion??? RE: Vintage Plarail C-12??? - sunhuntin - 07-01-2016 im going to say that is fairly old... 70s? it has that gear in the last 3 photos that makes contact with the tyres and drives things. my merry go train has the exact same set up. http://sunsthomasandfriends.weebly.com/tomy-merry-go-sets.html its actually very similar to all engines in that range, except they dont have the enclosed gears. they are exposed like the old magnetic tomy trains. looks like a nice piece. would love to see it with the top on, too. Isn't this the on/off switch? RE: Vintage Plarail C-12??? - MuddyPoppins - 07-03-2016 Ok people... We've got one "maybe 70's"...I am hoping for a bit more info before I allow this thread to die...ty RE: Vintage Plarail C-12??? - Super - 07-03-2016 I know we have talked about these metal engines before but I can't find the thread. My guess is that these types are the first motors made but I would think that at least Geris, Jdog or Plarnold may know exactly. EDIT: Did find this thread http://www.blueplastictracks.com/showthread.php?tid=279&highlight=metal+motor RE: Vintage Plarail C-12??? - MuddyPoppins - 07-04-2016 HERE IS THE VIDEO... https://youtu.be/adDCUJk4r8I RE: Vintage Plarail C-12??? - Super - 07-04-2016 So that was the on/off switch |
