TGV Type Set - Nigels - 06-23-2016 I saw this on eBay the other day and at a massive £11.49 with free delivery thought I'd give it a punt. I have to say having received it I'm quite impressed, the build quality is very good as is the finish of the trains, the loco runs on 3 x AA batteries and has both sound and illuminated head-lights as standard as well as forward and backward control. Connection between the cars is in the form of a pivoting close couple corridor type fitting which is very impressive bearing in mind the cheap price. Size-wise each car is about double the length of say a PlaRail EF65 and has dual bogies with 4 wheels on each. The gauge of the wheels is perfect for blue track and indeed runs superbly on straight track, however there is not enough pivot on the bogies to enable it to negotiate the standard curves. Having said that this isn't a disaster as this is a complete set with track, track-side accessories, even a spare bogie (although they look strong enough to last anyway) and a little mini-screwdriver to open the battery box Enjoy!! RE: TGV Type Set - Super - 06-23-2016 Very nice looking. I have a bunch of those exact trees from Japan. RE: TGV Type Set - ROKMAN1445 - 06-23-2016 It looks nice, but it looks like it was made by a ripoff company. RE: TGV Type Set - Nigels - 06-23-2016 Oh undoubtably a 'rip-off' company which is why it describes the train as a 'Tiger' rather than a TGV which is what it is modelled on. But at the end of the day that doesn't really matter as it is a quality model worth far more than you pay for it when compared with other 'branded' trains out there. RE: TGV Type Set - ActionChugger - 06-23-2016 This thread is worthless without videos! RE: TGV Type Set - Super - 06-23-2016 I don't see this looking much like the TGV's rather, to me, it more resembles a N700 or E3 Shinkansen. Nice looker though. RE: TGV Type Set - Nigels - 06-23-2016 The modelled Tomy TGV in orange does not represent the only versions of the TGV used in Europe. You will find there are various different national railways using trains that use the TGV design, but tweaked or painted in different liveries There are also different shapes as it has morphed over the years, TGV is really a term than just a class of train and newer ones look pretty different to the first ones... |
