Do you need adapters to connect the track - Thomasengineandjames67 - 06-11-2016

Excuse me guys
Do you need a adapter to connect track master track to the old track or track master track to train track made by a different company? Will it come in sets?

you can get adapters to connect the current trackmaster to the old, and from the old trackmaster to connect to the tomy blue track. the trackmaster/tomy adapters are no longer available from stores, but sometimes appear on ebay. for trackmaster/trackmaster, i think sets are still including those ones, but could be wrong.

keep in mind, the old engines dont work well on much of the new track, and the new engines have trouble on the old track. the pre-revolution trackmaster engines have only minor issues on the tomy blue track.

for tracks by other companies, you would likely have to make your own some how.

What issues do pre-rev engines have? I thought they were pretty much the exact same. (Except for my recent discovery that Stephen's too tall to go under bridges and higher levels of track!)

They have trouble with the steep inclines etc... as they don't have the tractor tyres for example Smile

Since 2015, the TrackMaster Revolution-TrackMaster 1 adapters are no longer included (perhaps they recieved reports about the lack of backwards compatibility).

They...don't?... Those gray or beige rubbery things around the wheels with the tiny little ridges in them that fit into blue track aren't traction tires?

youll have to have a look.

TRACTOR, not traction. the tmr engines have huge teeth on their tyres, hence calling them tractor tyres. they are vastly different to the traction tyres of the older engines.

edit: thread moved to correct forum.

I'm very confused. o-o I asked how the TrackMaster Pre-Revolution engines had trouble on TOMY blue track, nothing about Revolution engines.
