Lot #2: Item 1/4 - Miksolo - 04-04-2016 The first item in my recent lot came in the mail one day early! Found it on my doorstep when I came home from seeing Deadpool and eating lunch. (It was very funny, btw. Don't bring the kids, tho...says the 13 year old. ) There will be more to come by the end of this month, but one of the items may arrive as late as May, so don't forget to look forward to that! This first item is one of the rare 3D faced pieces of rolling stock from the HiT Toys era of TrackMaster! Two S.C.Ruffeys! I'm going to clean them both, as they have a few smudges near the top and inside of them, and may or may not resell the one with the more brown looking paint. I don't know why one of them was painted with that darker color. Either way, I'm very happy with my purchase and hope I can find Toad in great condition as well! RE: Lot #2: Item 1/4 - Super - 04-05-2016 Very nice Miksolo. I have always liked the ruff, old time lettering on the sides of the Scruffy wagons. Almost like they are weathered. Almost like they are weathered. Thank you, Super! As for the weathered look, it's because S.C.Ruffey is very old. There is no merchandise of the present version of S.C.Ruffey (present as in whatever year Thomas and Friends takes place in). In the show, he appeared as one of the oldest troublesome trucks in the yard, and he was rusty and had rotten wood because of it, which is what gives him his unique orange color scheme. After Oliver pulled him apart to teach the trucks a lesson, he was rebuilt and he looked like a normal truck aside from the lettering and face. RE: Lot #2: Item 1/4 - Super - 04-05-2016 Thanks Miksolo I never knew his story before. So is the one you have modeled of the before (older) or the after (the rebuild). I really like the look of this version of him (HiT Toys had better rolling stock than Tomy and Fisher Price combined). It also makes him stand out compared to the other trucks, which makes perfect sense because he's their leader. (04-05-2016, 01:58 AM)Miksolo Wrote: Thank you, Super! When I got my Tomy Ultimate Set, it came with a S.C. Ruffey that was based on his rebuild: (Not my photo, and clearly not a custom) In the TV series: (Credit to the Wikia) I don't know of any other merchandise lines where S.C. Ruffey was not in his original livery. RE: Lot #2: Item 1/4 - Super - 04-05-2016 Oh...wouldn't it be nice to have those spoked buggy wheels. Hmmm...wonder if there is some toy out there that might have similar wheels for a mod....must keep an eye out for something like that RE: Lot #2: Item 1/4 - Miksolo - 04-05-2016 (04-05-2016, 09:26 AM)Super Wrote: Oh...wouldn't it be nice to have those spoked buggy wheels. I don't think Wooden Railway is big enough for Plarail. RE: Lot #2: Item 1/4 - Miksolo - 04-05-2016 (04-05-2016, 07:49 AM)DalaGStanator Wrote: You got two S.C. Ruffeys with the moulded face? Yeah, I actually only wanted 1, but the most promising eBay listing I could find was of these two, so I may give away, sell, or mod the second one. RE: Lot #2: Item 1/4 - Super - 04-05-2016 I think one would look great as a mod with some weathering features |
