Help with Ben - Super - 04-01-2016

I need some help with a Trackmaster Ben and a picture would be very helpful. I have had a Ben apart for about a year now and have forgotten where/how the four small weights are placed in the chassis. Does anyone have a 2009 Mattel Ben that could help me out?

Well there are 2 behind his face, but I don't have a triangular screwdriver to open up his chassis to look at the other 2Sad sorry Super

I took a look at the bill and Ben I have, my Ben is 2006 but Bill was 2009. Here is a look at what the face disassembled looks like. Hope this helps.

Hi Ripley

Of course this helps me. Strange as there is a difference. Thank you very much for taking the time to help me out. Was there only two weights in yours? Might there also been weights in the chassis? Mine had four at least there were four in the container I use for parts of an individual train I am working on. Since it sometimes takes months for me to start and finish a mod I guess I shout start adding a small note card too as now I don't know if I added the two extra weights or not. My shell also did not have the two outer panels for your weights. Looking at your picture I can see that the screw shat for the face plate also works as a stop for those weights so since mine no longer has a face It looks like I will create a custom weight for the front to fit mine. I just need to make sure I have the proper weight and not to much or to little as that whole front unit will be permanently affixed. I wonder if anyone else might have a different configuration on their Ben or Bill?

Many thanks Ripley!

No problem. Yeah it was only the two small weights that I saw. I will see if there are maybe any hidden but I did not see or hear anything when taking him apart. Maybe Ben is different.

It could simply be a prior owner had added extra weights for some reason. I know in the past when fixing loco's I've won in job lots that some have had more weights than other loco's of the same type. I've never been sure if its a case of some have had them added or some have had them lost at some point. After all when you buy a job lot of 'faulty' loco's you never know how many times they've been apart Smile
