Frustration - Penybontshed - 01-11-2016

its annoying when designing a new layout to realise you need to make a custom piece of track with two ends the same (ie female female)
Anyone successfully done this??
Thanks

Tomy does make male to male and female to female adapter tracks. Here are some in you area I think... http://www.ebay.com/itm/TRACKMASTER-TOMY-THOMAS-ENGINES-BLUE-TRACK-1-6-TRACK-ADAPTERS-NEW-UNBOXED-/400920218886?hash=item5d58b50d06:g:RJAAAMXQg4pR6S~x They make the 1/6th ones like these and also a 1/4 length. I know I has seen some YouTube videos of custom made ones. Here is one that has been posted here by someone before...

I think you'll find it more cost effective to get a bag-full from Hong Kong than fishing about on ebay UK for them. Search for "Plarail R-20" on ebay, mbt-gifts are a very reliable seller, and about the cheapest too.

Thanks both, very helpful. great forum we have here eh?

RE: Frustration - Super - 01-11-2016

Just to make sure, the picture Chrisjo has above is for the 1/4 length adapters which were sold as a Tomy retail set like you see, the link I showed is for the smaller 1/6 length which are much harder to find and I haven't seen sold retail.

thanks both, very helpful and I have ordered the larger bag from ebay just in case

RE: Frustration - eilif - 01-20-2016

I've cut a few F/F tracks for myself. It's super easy with a box cutter or razor saw. Plarail track plastic (polyurethane, I assume) is soft and easy to cut. I use curves since I have more than I need.

Making a M/M adaptor is more difficult, but I made a couple of temporary plugs to join two Female ends with a piece of EVA foam cut into a double wedge.

Wish Tomy would make full size tracks of F/F and M/M connectors
I hate those small connectors specially when building tall towers. It just looks weird and annoying! Big Grin

That would be nice. Don't you and Evan want to get into 3D printing??? Because I have a few ideas and I need someone who has a 3D printer and scanner. How about it AC?
