Picked these up in a lot. What is the red one? - ripley802 - 11-15-2015 Hey all. I received these today. I recently won one of the white ones (komachi?) but the red and silver ones are a first for me. I know the they are probably 3 piece sets but unfortunately I only have the engines. Also finally picked up a Flora, which I did not have. ![]() RE: Picked these up in a lot. What is the red one? - MuddyPoppins - 11-15-2015 (11-15-2015, 12:58 AM)ripley802 Wrote: Hey all. What is the red one? - Super - 11-15-2015 I do have a few more than the picture now. ActionChugger is the king around here for that red F-Unit. I think he has about 10. I call these the Santa Fe Super Chief as they have nearly the same coloring details without the logo's. That E3 Komachi Bullet Train & the red Santa Fe Super Chief both came in a large Tomica World set I believe in the US. I will try and find it as its a nice set.. RE: Picked these up in a lot. You hid these from me?!?! And everyone else?!?! RE: Picked these up in a lot. What is the red one? - ripley802 - 11-15-2015 I took a closer look at th engines to see how they looked internally. The red and silver ones just needed cleaned up and the rubber wheels replaced. The white one needed a bit more. It had some corrosion on the battery terminals. I cleaned it up and put a thin coat of solider. The engine would not engage at all. I tested at the terminals directly and still got nothing. If you have not taken one of the motors from these style trains apart befor you are in for a treat. These seem to be a bit more complex than the typical motor units. Once I figured out where all of the gears came from, the huge spring, and realizing that having the negative terminal de-soldiered and on one side of the casing then putting it back together, all is working now. RE: Picked these up in a lot. What is the red one? - leylandvictory2 - 11-17-2015 that's because it has a 2 speed motor. Since I am not tech savy, I just harvest a working motor off another engine (the cheaper one) and install it on to the Santa Fe chassis. |
