Hyper Guardian Ground Gainer Fusion - Nigels - 11-01-2015

Well a bit of an oddity this time, the other week I saw this on eBay, the first one I've seen listed on the UK site before or since, a "Hyper Guardian Ground Gainer Fusion" set.

This consists of a central 'base/craft/station/transforming' thing as well as a bullet train consisting of a drive unit, two coaches and a trailer. The drive unit is powered, the trailer has a sound unit and they can be used as a standard 4 car bullet type train. Or if you have the double tracks that come with the set you can fit them effectively at the corners of the 'base' and motorise/sound effect the entire thing.

Alternatively you can instead 'transform' the base opening the side and removing the train cars from the front/back and it becomes a startion/tunnel you can attach track to and add to your layout.

From what I've learned since you can also use some of the other hyper guardian range instead of some of the 'cars' that comes with the base set and therefore customise it.

Well that's all I've figured out so far as this used set didn't come with any instructions, although as it was a japanese import it may not have helped much anyway. But if there's anyone out there who knows where there's a downloadable version I'd be happy to receive a link SmileSo all in all quite an interesting set.

Here's some pictures;

I have seen that come up in the Japan auctions many times. There are probably better videos but this one came up. It is pretty neat but looks like a double sided track system would work the best. I wonder if it would go up and down sloped straight rails but it may bottom out. Maybe someone here owns the set and can copy any instructions or if you can find a good picture of the back of box might have what is needed.

Hi Super,

You're dead right, in its 'mobile HQ' configuration it pretty much is limited to the double track, whether it could manage an incline in its vanilla configuration is debatable as it only utilises a single powered car on the rear right (if you are looking at it from the front). The other rear car is the sound module which is typical japanese anime/samurai type sounds etc... which is pretty cool Smile

I've found while looking around for instructions that it is possible to buy this brand new still from Amazon (they're getting pretty good with all this stuff lately). But the price I paid was about a third of what it would be through that route and that is assuming I don't get hit for customs duty - which i did the other day for the first time, long story lol!

The other thing that is quite interesting is the general mix 'n' match approach of the whole hyper guardian range, I've already got several other sets, a couple of used ones from eBay and a couple of new ones I picked up off Amazon cheaply (~£16 each including shipping from Japan).

Looking at some of the promo videos on youtube there are examples of parts from one being mounted on others etc... So quite an interesting range all round Smile
