surprise australian buy: plarail shirts - sunhuntin - 10-08-2015 mum and i went to melbourne last week and got home last night. i had a shock find at a clothing store called uniqlo. they are global and have websites for many countries, but i didnt see these prints on the japan, usa or australian sites. pure luck finding these, as mum was in a chemist and i waited outside due to having a backpack and not fitting well down tight aisles. uniqlo had a huge billboard in their window with all these different graphic prints on it... disney, peanuts, rilakuma and thomas. a mannequin was wearing a toy story woodys roundup shirt, which is what i wanted to buy first. now, im not a clothes buyer. i dont often buy clothing, and usually when i do its second hand. strangely enough, i was quite happy to spend over $150 on 12 shirts i will never really wear. they are kids sizes in 6 different designs, but i have plans to cut the prints off one of each design and sew onto shirts that will fit me. i got the smallest sizes as keepsakes, and the largest with the biggest prints to cut up. the first one i found at the store in chadstone. i originally went in looking for the thomas one and found this instead. [cue mini instore happy dance] back print they had another store at the melbourne imporium, right next to where we were staying, so called in that night, where i found another 5 designs. [cue massive instore happy dance] back print my favourite i also got several adult shirts featuring toy story and peanuts, but never did find the thomas shirt. RE: surprise australian buy: plarail shirts - jdogman - 10-08-2015 Wow, that's a really awesome find! I think Uniqlo is a great store, and I'm not a fan of shopping for clothes. Shame they're only kids shirts, but that's expected I guess. Their Thomas apparel online looks great as well. I love how thanks to these kinds of stores, obscure stuff comes around. I have seen candy or some other snack food themed with the Tomica range from a Asian supermarket a few times. RE: surprise australian buy: plarail shirts - Super - 10-08-2015 Those are really neat Sunhuntin. You seem to always bump into to great finds in your travels around New Zealand. RE: surprise australian buy: plarail shirts - ROKMAN1445 - 10-08-2015 Those are really cool SUN! I wish I was young enough to wear one of those shirts! RE: surprise australian buy: plarail shirts - sunhuntin - 10-09-2015 jdog, do you have a link to their thomas line? i googled but couldnt find anything on the australian site. they are a neat shop, one i could happily spend a bit of time in. i love their graphic print range. super, yes, theres some neat stuff in some odd places. the shirts were found in australia, but us kiwis sometimes call it "west island", to go along with our north, south and stewart islands. rok, agreed. thats why i got doubles so i can cut the prints off and put them on adult shirts to wear at shows. the great thing is i have the actual trains to match in some cases. RE: surprise australian buy: plarail shirts - Tramp - 10-09-2015 I love the shirts, what a great find! RE: surprise australian buy: plarail shirts - jdogman - 10-09-2015 I was searching for the Japanese page which listed the Thomas things and the website page was not working anymore. Perhaps it was a limited edition run. I found one of the blog posts about it though: http://blog.thomasandfriends.jp/?blog=382845 I actually have confused my histories a little bit and worked out that some of the stuff I thought looked really good was from design T-shirts store graniph, and it turns out they are sold in Australia! http://www.graniph.com.au/collections/collaboration_thomas-and-friends |
