Thank you Dr Chris for your research and for sharing.

I have to assume that the Drawbridge will still work without the grey, universal activator track otherwise what would be the sense of having it separate?

There is something close maybe...here is a bridge made for the wooden trains line that I modified to work with Tomy tracks. (thought I had more images but I can't find them right now)

Other observations:

The entire ES series has disappeared from the line-up, apart from the two latest character trains (Tom & Jerry, and Kirby's Dream Land).

The number of KF series wagons and single locomotives is reduced from ten to eight. There are now gaps at KF-03 (most recently the Animal Transport Wagon) and KF-07 (Rail Transport Wagon).

It looks like the E259 series Narita Express Exclusive Connection Set will be a powered 3-car connected to an un-powered 3-car.
