We all learn fast early on and its sites like ours that help define 'Rare' for new collectors too. To be fair, its not Walmart who sells these but individual Marketplace Sellers using their site to sell their items much like you see Sellers using Amazon or Ebay. Shows you how much I pay attention, I have always thought this set was quite unique and wanted one but never noticed that there was a Cranky in the middle. Here's how it would normally look (with Cranky and the green "hill" piece): Also, I didn't know TOMY fixed his colour for it until DuckGWR said "green Cranky" (thanks for mentioning it). If only I used a brighter and more accurate shade when I repainted mine. RE: Online Selling Shockers - DuckGWR - 07-29-2020 Here's a mod I don't think I've seen before, someone took what I assume are the magnetic couplers off of the Shinkansen with the magnetic couplers and put them on normal Plarail stock. I suppose that would make it easier for young kids to couple and uncouple, basically turns them into old dark blue track TOMYTrains rolling stock RE: Online Selling Shockers - leylandvictory2 - 07-29-2020 the seller probably harvested those couplings from vintage tomy trains. Some of toy r us Imagrarium? trains also have removable magnetic couplings RE: Online Selling Shockers - Super - 07-29-2020 Those vintage magnetic couplings were also sold in replacement packs and sometimes can still be seen today offered new in package... at a price of course. They could still be used on todays trains as they fit the same with 'T' end and Hole. They would be great for the remote controlled engines where you could remotely couple up rolling stock as long as it has a reverse. RE: Online Selling Shockers - Super - 08-04-2020 LOL...I wouldn't pay $40 for that set even if they were working RE: Online Selling Shockers - Off The Rails - 08-04-2020 I recall watching a Taskforce2008 video of a Plarail switching yard that used those couplers along with (I presume) Mr Motorman controlled locomotives. RE: Online Selling Shockers - Super - 08-04-2020 Was it this great video from Taskforce? I love that Loading Dock with the HiLo's on it and those container cars are very cool. The flatbeds look too perfect to be customs but yet, I haven't seen a Plarail like them. Wonder how they were made or are they Plarail? |
