RE: The Little LaFayette That Will (Hopefully) - thomasfan101 - 07-18-2016 Okay guy's, here's a quick update. Tillie is REALLY close to being finished but in the meantime, all I can show you are three small things I did recently. First off, I attached the cowcatcher to the front. It's not as good as I was hoping it would be but it's good enough. These next two were never part of the character but I added them anyway because it looks cool. First off are the back buffers. She doesn't need them but like I said, I just think it looks cool And finally, something practical, a water tank. Since Tillie is a tank engine, I thought it would be a good idea to give her water tanks to make her look more like a tank engine (Since the picture was taken, the tanks were glued down and will soon have filler caps added and painted over). That's all I can say for now but we're almost there. In the meantime, here's a picture I drew of Tillie. RE: The Little LaFayette That Will (Hopefully) - DalaGStanator - 07-18-2016 Blame whoever designed the original Little Engine for not giving her water tanks and a bunker, hence why Tillie didn't have them either. However, Loren Long gave the engine a tender, possibly to rectify it. I'm actually glad you decided to make slight improvements in her design (except for adding buffers). RE: The Little LaFayette That Will (Hopefully) - ROKMAN1445 - 07-18-2016 Neat tweaks to the original design. maybe you should get a deviantArt account. http://www.deviantart.com RE: The Little LaFayette That Will (Hopefully) - thomasfan101 - 07-19-2016 (07-18-2016, 10:10 PM)ROKMAN1445 Wrote: Neat tweaks to the original design. maybe you should get a deviantArt account. What is the paint called? Very nice custom, by the way. It looks amazing. [EDIT] Also, is it the same color/colour paint as Thomas? RE: The Little LaFayette That Will (Hopefully) - DalaGStanator - 07-20-2016 No, but it appears to be similar. I know you know this, but Thomas is Bachmann and factory-painted. Therefore, the exact paint used for him is unknown. RE: The Little LaFayette That Will (Hopefully) - thomasfan101 - 07-07-2017 Hey guys, I know it's been a while since the last update so let me just say what's been going on. Sadly, When Tillie was almost done, my Dad accidently nudged her on my workbench and her neck broke. Since then, she's needed an entirely new head but I have been too lazy to build one. However, a month ago I did buy some hook loop couplers to put on the back so progress is still going fourth (albeit a bit slowly). RE: The Little LaFayette That Will (Hopefully) - Super - 07-08-2017 Thats a bummer, bet your Dad was really sorry. Glad to hear that you are getting back into it as it was becoming a great custom piece. RE: The Little LaFayette That Will (Hopefully) - thomasfan101 - 08-09-2017 I know it's been a while so here's a quick update. I'm making a new head. After the neck broke on the old head, I decided to make a new one. Apart from the lighter shade of Blue and slight thickerness, the only real difference is that now there's an actual hole in top of the funnel. Hoping to have it baked and painted tomorrow. RE: The Little LaFayette That Will (Hopefully) - Super - 08-09-2017 Am I the only one that can't see the pictures? |
