how does one get around the atrocious prices of the average ebay seller?
ive found molly and murdoch in mint condition but they're priced at 40 dollars and 80 dollars respectively
they dont have boxes or anything and while at first i figured, "well they're really old and hard to find in such good condition so maybe it IS worth the price?" but smarter collectors than myself have warned me that they really aren't worth any more than 30 dollars each

I guess maybe I’m just dumb then, because if you can find ANY train in near mint condition for under $30 it is a great deal.
Maybe you could find a Molly for $30, but you’d have to be the first person to find it, but a clean Murdoch for under $50 is a steal.
$80 seems about right for a NM/VG condition Murdoch.

Yeah can agree, sellers are asking a rubbish amount of money for a “toy train” look at Oliver, $75+. I certainly do not want to pay a ridiculous amount of money for a Oliver

Patience and careful observation of newly appearing listings. I snagged a tomy Murdoch in pristine condition for £22 from an ebay auction about 4 years ago.

Another masterpiece of understatement:

Takara Tomy Motor Tomica - Nissan Fairlady Z 300ZX - Diecast - 1:64 Tw-16 White

"This shows signs of wear"

Should buff out nicely.

Looks better than half of my old diecast/hot wheels cars

I found an Ebay moment at Marketplace
BNIB Tomy Thomas... fine, but what about the price?
60000 CRC is translated to roughly 120USD, not quite cheap. If it was an set or something big I would understand but not, this is just for one engine.

RE: Online Selling Shockers - NMsTrains - 11-26-2024

This Oliver is in a very poor condition for the price, guess the seller thinks he is sat on a goldmine despite it being in rough shape.

I’m not currently selling one but if I was it would be cheaper than this and in a much better condition too! I wouldn’t charge more than £5 for it in this condition
