RE: New Trains Featured at 2015 Plarail Expo w/Suzukawa - Nigels - 05-26-2015 Just checked out that site, seems a lot of the Advance loco sets are sold out/long sold out, unless they carry poor stocks of them that would suggest they are quite popular or at least in Japan ![]() On a related note, I've been wondering if the Tagamoto range of motorised cars would be a good contender for use on an Advance layout (on the road track part of the layout of course). Although they are not quite small enough to be Advance scale they are not a mile off being around half the size of an equivalent Tomica diecast car. Add to that the light/sound effects which can be triggered by barcodes you place on the track I think it could be a nice addition to any layout. ![]() RE: New Trains Featured at 2015 Plarail Expo w/Suzukawa - Super - 05-26-2015 The Hobby Search site is a great place for new release research and pre-order purchasing of to be released new stuff. They seem to purchase a large lot of stock when a unit is first released and then when they are sold out they sometimes can't re-stock or move on to stocking something else. Some of the members here like that they can pre-order an unreleased unit because they are limited runs and the price goes up and availability goes down after release. We have a small set of those Tagamoto cars purchased several years ago at Target and they are pretty neat how they move around the tracks. As far as size goes, I agree with you that they look and feel better than the 1/64 Tomica cars. All details are printed only, including the windows and doors. Not molded.
