Our research team is always on the lookout, there also could be one without those grooves (wheel grips) on the rail surface but it is unconfirmed whether it actually exists.

The team is called "いなかのえき", a group of volunteers who devote their knowledge and time to rediscover mainly ancient Japanese Plarail.

From here we will derail off Showa-era Plarail numbering confirmation.

Have you heard of the story of the "Gray Coupler And the Boarding Pass"? It was dating back to 1999 where it is only released in the pre-release version 40th anniversary 3 car reprint Family Travel Salon Car Set. This version also only has the boarding card. It is a hidden phantom gem in Plarail (hidden gem because it is Heisei era and does not match the description of Phantom Gem), it is not very known until today where somebody brought his play sets to today's Plarail Festival (informal gathering) and explained the story to us. The boarding card is used to board the same train in real life, and only 40 cards are recorded so far.

Guess what? The boarding card has a product ID, and it is rumoured to be different for each card. This ID will be added here for the first time. The 2 boxes are identical, sharing every trait and ID.

25/26 could mean the seat number in a car. We will find out why the slash is included, could it be a shared seat for 2 people?

With Pre-Release items in topic, there is also a New Skyliner as pre-release form. This is known by not having a catalogue ID (S-nn). A barcode is found and scanned, and the JAN number DOES NOT MATCH the barcode! It seems that this JAN number matches the Skyliner's barcode after the pre-release. We are investigating the Skyliners from old to new generations and come up with an answer.

We also noticed the number 11410 engraved into the box, it is the production plant? ST mark is in, so we know it passed toy safety standards and could easily guess the age from it.

Thats an interesting story about the "Gray Coupler And the Boarding Pass"  If I would have seen the gray couplings I would have assumed that they were colored, home made, painted or after market.

Its also interesting about the 2016 remake of the Skyliner. The box of the one you pictured is different from the one sold on Hobby Search.

The pre-release version of Skyliner seems to be a from a separate line of sales, where it was sold in a kiosk (not sure where). Highly likely sold in petrol stations or small campaigns, example: the opening ceremony of the first prototype release of the Skyliners.

Alpha database test. Our team use a wayback and timestamp machine to backtrack 1997-2010. 1997 is the year where Internet archives are born, so paper work is needed for older than 1997. This is not phantom gems of Plarail, but we have to start somewhere in the late years to backtrack JAN barcodes. We plan to start and end database from 2 ends of time and then cover the years in between the 2 ends of time. Before 2003 is confidential at the moment.

The 'Team' is doing great work Vio.

The Internet Archive is an amazing tool and resource.

The limitation of wayback machine is that the links in webpages are all dead, so each link will need more time to restore.
