Also found this other knock off with a unknown origin for me. This one features with the Talk n Action face and what is supposed to be Annie/Clarabel coach attached to Thomas with wires. Thomas now has a shiny gold dome and gold boiler stripes.

Ok ok, the chassis is fake, the shell isn’t a TNA it’s a og 1992-2001 painted face, the TnA one has a different mold, and a different motor, the stickers are the original, Annie was glued in with wires

I found the images in a Discord server, and for me the source is unknown. Also your theory about the fake TnA is good! I would be dissapointed if Annie was only the generator of train sounds and Thomas, well, a standard Thomas. The one from the photo looks old, similar to the fake "Mewing" TOMY Thomas. Player World Go Go Go "Thomas & Friends" (and later Tomis the Big Family to avoid copyright issues) sets started to manufacture around late 2000s and early 2010s so I don't think it's the same tooling, but rather LCF (Tomis the Big Family set's company) used the same concept!
I thought it was the Talk n Action face because it's hard to see the face haha!
