RE: Trafford Park Railway - TheDiamondDalek - 09-19-2021 As it happens, I live very close to the remnants of this railway, though not much remains, only a crossing a few other bits still stand RE: Trafford Park Railway - GreatGordonFan - 09-19-2021 You also lived in Manchester? Wow Do you ever remember seeing the train at barton dock road? RE: Trafford Park Railway - TheDiamondDalek - 09-19-2021 @GGF I still live around the Manchester area, though I don't remember seeing any locomotives at this railway, I only really remember just seeing what's left RE: Trafford Park Railway - GreatGordonFan - 09-20-2021 My map will be from around 1990ish. RE: Trafford Park Railway - chrisjo - 09-20-2021 Amazing! Detail from a Soviet military map of West and South West Manchester showing Trafford Park, created by Russian intelligence and dated 1975. I found this in the University of Manchester Online Map Collection RE: Trafford Park Railway - Off The Rails - 09-21-2021 This is a really cool project you’ve undertaken. Industrial railroads are kind of the unsung heroes of transportation. Possibly going so far as to say unappreciated or even maligned. Here in the US, there’s often a push to turn disused rail lines into hiking trails. I guess that with the numerous level crossing and the line running through (active?) industrial areas, that’s less attractive to local councils or agencies. RE: Trafford Park Railway - WolfRagnell - 09-21-2021 This is really Neat Super unique can't wait to see the map when its complete gg-fan RE: Trafford Park Railway - GreatGordonFan - 09-21-2021 A problem I have is that a lot of lines are obliterated. Such as here : RE: Trafford Park Railway - chrisjo - 09-21-2021 Maybe in the fullness of time your map could have faint or dotted lines for track sections that have now been obliterated? RE: Trafford Park Railway - GreatGordonFan - 09-21-2021 @Chrisjo, That's a good idea! |
