What number was Neil?

There seems to be a Scottish theme going on.

Neil bore the letters "S & M", and the number "2" in gold on green. S & M in this case stands for the Sodor and Mainland Railway.

Good one. I had not heard of Neil before so I had to do some research. Was he only briefly in an older print book? Seems like he didn't last very long before being scrapped. Only a few pictures I saw and he reminds me of squarer Samson a lot. Is the only model of him in the wooden line? By the price of those he must be a little bit hard to get.

Neil appears in three plates in the story 'Crosspatch' in 'Very Old Engines, No.20 of the Railway Series, and in one plate in the story 'Bucking Bronco' in the same book. He speaks in a ridiculous music-hall stereotype Scottish accent.

A destination was released with an un-named character, then later re-issued in several different forms with a named character of the same general type as the un-named one. The named character however had a completely different type of power-plant compared with the original un-named one.

What were the names of the destination and the character?

RE: Thomas & Friends Trivia or Fun Facts Game - Super - 05-19-2015

Thanks Chrisjo and HenryNWR3 for the interesting information. After looking up a picture of the Ertl Neil it looks as if he must be the least detailed engine of all. He looks like 2 boxes stuck together LOL.

Well that's disappointing, nobody even attempted an answer!

Sodor Airport was originally issued with an un-named twin-propellor aeroplane, then re-issued in a number of forms with Jeremy the Jet, who of course had two jet engines.

Somebody else want to try a question?

RE: Thomas & Friends Trivia or Fun Facts Game - Super - 05-20-2015

Well that certainly is interesting. I had no idea about there being 2 planes one a prop and the other a jet. I have had many of these that came in large bundled purchases and never thought to research them before listing them on Ebay. Thanks.

Keep in mind that if there are no correct guesses then either hints can be given or the answers after 24 hours.
