Knockoffs or real? - Help wanted - Miksolo - 01-24-2018 Can anyone confirm for me if these are official or not?? The only places I've ever seen listings for these supposedly late Fisher-Price Trackmaster releases are eBay and Ali Express, and all surprisingly affordable considering they've been discontinued for about 3 years. I believe I asked this question a few years back when looking for a Trackmaster Hank, and a user here bought one and reported that if it was a knockoff, it was a very very good one, but I'd really rather have the real thing. I am genuinely confused about whether these 2014 single-engine releases were real or not. Have they ever been recorded on a store shelf, and in such bizarre conditions?? For example, Stephen not being named on his packaging and missing his tender, and Rheneas's yellow livery being released without any connection to Blue Mountain Mystery, and Rheneas being mispelled on the packaging in both his red and yellow releases. TL;DR: Has anyone seen these in store, specifically Rheneas labelled "Rhenesa" or Stephen without his tender and not given a name? ![]() RE: Knockoffs or real? - Help wanted - MuddyPoppins - 01-24-2018 Yes, technically they are real. They are made from leftover FisherPrice pieces that never reached the shelves before the Revolutions replaced them in 2013...some are better than others, Duncan is probably the worst, but looking at Hank he seems like one of the better ones. RE: Knockoffs or real? - Help wanted - ripley802 - 01-24-2018 I had purchased a Hank from eBay through a Chinese seller. To be honest it seemed legit to me and I really could not tell any defects or quality differences. I liked this version as it was not the tender powered one. RE: Knockoffs or real? - Help wanted - Miksolo - 01-24-2018 Is Duncan not the same as in any other release? Do all engines have some sort of difference from say, a version released as a Greatest Moments pack, or even just in an earlier version of the packaging? RE: Knockoffs or real? - Help wanted - MuddyPoppins - 01-24-2018 No Duncan is canary yellow instead of mustard colored, with a cheap Duncan name plate sticker that covers and hides his poorly painted name that's on is body underneath. Lol RE: Knockoffs or real? - Help wanted - Chrizzly - 01-24-2018 Dennis was also released in the final wave, with light blue standard (Not his normal 'Bullied' design) wheels, similar to Lexi's, standard traction rods instead of his own, and a weirdly painted face. Normal: ![]() Final Wave: ![]() RE: Knockoffs or real? - Help wanted - Miksolo - 01-24-2018 That's another primary reason for my suspicion! Can't believe I forgot to mention Dennis. Thanks for the reminder, Chrizzly RE: Knockoffs or real? - Help wanted - Chrizzly - 01-24-2018 (01-24-2018, 02:24 AM)Muddy Poppins Wrote: No Duncan is canary yellow instead of mustard colored, with a cheap Duncan name plate sticker that covers and hides his poorly painted name that's on is body underneath.Just in case you want a picture. ![]() RE: Knockoffs or real? - Help wanted - Miksolo - 01-24-2018 Think I could get a side-by-side comparison? EDIT: Nevermind, I get the idea now. In my search for some comparison pics tho, I found this: https://vignette4.wikia.nocookie.net/tttetrackmaster/images/7/73/TrackMasterDuncanupdatedbox.jpg/revision/latest?cb=20130113192746 This is the same type of box, but has the old nameplate instead of a sticker, and uses a sticker for his lining instead of it being painted on... RE: Knockoffs or real? - Help wanted - B'Station Official - 02-06-2018 I would personally avoid any TrackMaster listing that is purchasable from anywhere in China. I know the engines are made there, but usually the market is flooded with knock offs. Japan, EU, AU, US and other markets generally have legit toys thats why its best to keep away from items from china listings in my opinion. And also Duncan was updated when he was introduced into the TrackMaster Fisher Price range. He gained a brighter yellow colour, gold lining instead of yellow, lost his windows sticker, lack of paint on pistons and his chassis undercarriage became yellow. From 2010 - 2011 he had normal black wheels but in 2012 they updated him with the two hole wheels due to the engine being considered more safe in packaging (plastic ods in the wheels went into the packaging), until he was retired in 2013. |
