Donald and Douglas Snow Plow Set

Please help me make a decision. I purchased this set and later the original owner decided he wanted this set back, saying there was an emotional attachment to it. He stated that he had a set new in box that he would trade for the older open set. Below are the photos of the NIB set please help me make the right choice, I'm assuming the old set is correct being that the original owner was willing to ship both sets to me and pay for one of them return shipping. But is this new in box set correct as well.

Are both boxes identical in every way?

Not sure? Are those two different pics of two differnt boxes?
I'm assuming one is sealed..
Are you allowed to open and inspect inside the BNIB?

They are magnificent btw!!
Just superb!!
Congrats..

The two boxes look identical, all the symbols are the same to me, but I don't read Japanese. The NIB set has a store price label in bottom right hand corner and it reads ¥4800.
The photos in the thread are of the same box.
The box wasn't sealed, but as you can see, the engines were. I opened the seal on the engine in the top tray, and that's the engine in the photos. There's also a plastic bag that has two pieces of paper in it all written in Japanese and the only thing I can make out is the TOMY logo.
From my friend in Japan, the first set, the one sold to me was given to the original owner by his grandmother. Super, I don't understand either. Maybe he just pulled the wrong one off the shelf and shipped me grandmother's set by mistake. Thinking he was shipping the new in box set.
Thank you everyone, ya'lls opinion is very important in this matter, and is how I will make my decision.

So I take it that you have both sets in your possession now?

@"Super" No I don't...
@PGM you ought to make molds of those plows and do a D&D snow plow tribute and offer them to sell for the holidays as attachments for Christmas layouts...

Then the choice would be yours my friend. If the new one is legit and you are sure, then why not keep it and make the other person happy with his Grandmothers original gift. Are you planning on any remakes?

...or extort 2 more BNIB sets out of them before you'll return Grandma's set!! Ha ha
