That is not a prototype but the secret black rim varient! It is believed this was the version initially released by HiT toys before getting swapped out with the red rim version soon after.
Train it, plane it, you name it!

@GreatGordonFan So this one is the rare one right? Is it possible if I buy another buster and swap the roof for him?

@Euro2309, This version has appeared several times on ebay so I'm not sure if it's rare, but it certainly is undocumented.
I don't own a buster but I think you should be able to replace the roof.

It would be a good way to get a nice price for a roofless Buster. Anyone with rudimentary skill with an airbrush could...

...what a cynic I am!

I’ll be very interested in seeing what arrives to you Euro..
I stared at this listing for hours, and was in negotiations with the seller, but I could not get answers to my questions in time, or an angle of the front rim to see how the paint line joined with the hub.
I requested extra photos, but they were not enough to convince me that it was authentic, and only caused more questions.
To me the paint looks to be a flat matte, and I just couldn’t pull the trigger without confirmation about the two hubs not being the same color.
Unfortunately you bought it before the seller could respond to my secondary questions about its provenance, so we’ll have to rely on you once you receive it.
Here are the extra photos that I requested, and the questions I had asked…

I’m not sure GGF, but like chrisjo said, it seems like an easy way to pawn off an incomplete Buster for top dollar.
I hope not, but in retrospect, I asked for specific pictures that were still inconclusive, and my questions about its history were still never answered by the seller. :/

Having seen Muddy's additional pictures, I'd like to retract the above statement.

And replace it with "anyone with rudimentary skill with a Sharpie".

Of course I hope I'm wrong, but it doesn't look good.
