Nigel's 3D Printed Daisy

I would ALWAYS start off with a coat of grey spray-can auto acrylic primer, but Nigel has a good point that something close to the correct green might be good for anyone not wishing to paint much or at all.

When I get to a production stage I may offer them pre-primed (if people want that) or alternately they can always ask for their preferred colour, not everyone may want a green Daisy, they may want her sister Marie in say Blue or Purple lol!

Anyway I need to scuplt up a face first and make the final tweaks to the current model before we get to the stage that I'll offer it to our good friends on BPT

Here's a great idea, you should do her classic series and CGI series faces as well.

You have spent so much time on all these Plarail 3D projects, have you had a chance to delve into the projects for yourself that you wanted to get into?

If somehow you can also apply the yellow stripe on the body would be great. The stripe is pretty narrow to make it precise.

Well this is a very interesting question, I have created some more 'utilitarian' type models for various uses, I recently posted a couple on Thingiverse of stands I made for the Starlink 'Pilots' and 'Weapons' that go with the Starlink video game, they've been well received so that will encourage me to post others as well.  I also made some custom stackable component type trays to store my Cars 3 Mini Racers in, ironically they would also be perfect for storing Thomas Mini's in as they are approximately the same size

I've got some other ideas of stuff I want to get into as well, but I really don't mind playing around with the plarail stuff as its stuff I can use myself if I want, but is also good practice using the CAD programs etc...

That would be easy with a duel extruder 3D printer, however so far I've not got one of those, I would love to get one, but the ones in my price range don't come up to the standard I want (yet), who knows what 2019 will bring, the market is moving very quickly

Ok, well I would never claim to be an 'artist', but here's my shot at the face for Daisy, unfortunately the colour of the PLA is not so great for showing the detail, but I think its pretty good and apart from a slight re-size and addition of some eyelashes its all but complete.

These were printed on my Ender 3 at 0.12mm resolution and I think they've come out pretty well.  The reason for two?  Well one I printed laying flat, the other printed on its edge, the reason to see what the print layer lines look like etc... and also to see what the detail is like in case one orientation is better than the other.

The outcome?  Well the detail for the face features is pretty much the same, however in terms of print lines the 'laying flat' model shows some diagonal lines caused by the layer being put down, whereas the vertical one shows virtually no lines at all that I can see.  The flash doesn't help as it hides the detail somewhat.  Bear in mind these are only about an inch across and you'll appreciate how good these have come out for an FDM printer (as I don't have an SLA/Resin printer yet - mind you from what I've seen about the toxicity of the resin and the whole messing about having to cure it in alchohol etc... I'm going off the idea a bit).

Anyway, have a look see what you think, later today I'll undercoat one and if I get time paint it so you can see the details

From what I can see of the detail, I agree with you on the upright one. Curious to see painted and a better detail photo

Is the left the vertical and the right one horizontal?
