plarail experts, auction help please?

am watching a fascinating local listing, and am wondering if the plarail experts here can tell me what i am looking at.

i think the shinkansen with the red stripe isnt plarail, and there seems to be some japanese stuff mixed in with the thomas.

its the large station i am especially interested in, and what caught my eye in the first place. the seller actually listed it as shinkansen, so i clicked through expecting to find the tomica world engines that were sold here. nice to be proven wrong though!

thanks in advance for any advice and info. Smile

Very nice lot. I love the large Station. I have a few similar ones but not that one. Lots of good odds and ends in there. Big Grin

I agree, it looks like that red striped Shinkansen is the only, non-Plarail, in the Lot. It looks like a lot of whats in this Lot including the trains are of the vintage era.

I am no expert at all but I have seen the station before although seldom for this one. A while ago we discussed these very Stations types with the Microphone in a Thread started by Ripley but I am unable to locate it. (as usual). The one pictured looks to be missing quite a few parts including the big signal pole that was to the left of the microphone and wired in which is often (it seems) broken off as it looks like your pictured one is. There may be some pieces there for the second deck.

In my poking around I did find a couple other pieces from your Lot that are old which may give an indication of the time period for a lot of stuff there.

Picture shows 2 of your Tomy items (missing pieces) from the 1986 - 1989 era. Here is one of these that is brand new in newer Plarail packaging so it must have been made for a while. http://www.jauce.com/auction/r120623955

I still looking for more info. Hopefully our real experts here can help out.

Definitely some interesting stuff there Sun, as Super has already said the 4 car Shinkansen is almost certainly not Plarail. As you know I like dabbling in non-PlaRail, but its not a type I recognise, the connectors look quite a bit different to the average and the power car looks to be the 2nd (or 3rd) car depending upon which end you start counting Smile

cheers, guys. will keep watching. its sitting around $60nzd, and then i would likely have to pay to ship it up from down south. its strange, all my most recent big plarail lots have come from the same city. its like theres a concentration of japanese immigrants down there or something.

Here are the 2 small stations and the one with the green roof uses small cards to activate some sounds or actions I guess. 1200yen auction. Still have not found anything on that bigger station although I have an eye out.

thanks, super.

the seller has put up more photos, and shows several hill tracks with the raisers moulded in. i have seen them before, and think they are quite old. the stations you show look old as well... no plakids on those stickers, so they must predate them.

Yes those hill tracks are quite old and like the ones I have gotten they are very brittle. At least 2 of the ones pictured are broken with one both the male and female connectors are broken and the other just the male side. A 3rd one can't be seen but even like the ones I got that were intact as soon as I connected them they broke because they are so old and brittle. I also see that the 2 regular sloped rails are also broke. Also the old ones with the built in piers are slightly lower than regular risers but I see that several of the old time yellow risers are included and they are the right height.

Take old broken TOMY and Trackmaster trains to scrap and use them for spare parts if you are in need!
yes, thats kind of the worrying part. most of the track i dont need, but it will pump up the shipping cost so much. and then theres the issue of where do i put it? have more than i can handle. tempting to make up basic circles and sell them, but then people cant buy the right engines anymore.
