Today, I took out my (long dead) RC Steam and Sounds Thomas and added some detail such as a blacked out undercarriage (sides only), gold whistle, red tail lamp and altered eyebrows and eyes.

So much more to do yet and this is just the chassis sitting on the wheels with no drive unit and the glue barely dry Smile

That almost reminds me of what they did with Edward. However, I think it doesn't work that well due to his original proportions, and it looks a bit jarring. Perhaps when it will have the cylinders and coupling rods, it could look slightly better. I do like the idea, even though the seams are too noticable. Does it make him too long for the turntable or other accessories? I know you said it turns well on curves.
Whoa! You aren't going to believe this but I fell asleep last night doing research with the thought of converting Henry into a Black Five. One of the questions I was pondering was how to build the lead truck from Take n Play wheels! (Which I had rejected as being too complex for me at the moment.)

At any rate, this is so very cool and I'm looking forward to watching it all come together!

That is looking AWESOME Ucwepn. Very Imaginative. A lot of pre-thought must have been had before starting this ambitious project. Please keep us informed and take progress pictures along the way for a pictorial after you are done.

Yes indeed allot of thought especially with where to cut and join etc, how to secure it so it's sturdy and doesn't affect wheel clearances etc (plasticard beams). The next task is the mount the leading wheels so they get enough swivel to turn and so that they sit level with the rest of the wheels. Updates of day 3 to come Tongue

i finally get to relax a bit. i'm throwing a layout together. nothing complex. i have to say tht since i've been coming here many of you have got me a little hooked on the tomy/plarail line.

i wanted to ask... have any of you ever collaborated on set design? i think that would be pretty cool. i'm not just talking about sets, trains or pieces. but themes as well. i've always wanted to design sets based on episodes.

although, this layout has no meaning ( i just wanted to run a few trains tht i've aquired)
but if anyone would like to endeavor in a collaboration let me know.

i have 1 layout that i'm pretty proud of. maybe after i break this 1 down i'll try to set it up.

let me know if i did this right.

If you want to discuss your Layout and trains its best to start your own Thread in the General Forum and everyone can join in.
k i will try
Just dug my docks set out and repaired the cranky piece that has been jamming. All it took was putting a gear back into alignment.
He runs perfectly now and is set for another 10 years of proud service to the railway.
Collecting without a clue since 2010
