thx super

im designing a layout.

it started simple as most do.

i'm trying to do a "free style" rail using blue tracks.
i can do it.
but i need to no wht else is out there.
my question is this:

how many blue tracks can u link b4 a pivot point?
most importantly! wht would 1 use?
i can do it. but i need to know wht else is out there. as i am not familiar with plarail products
does this make sense?

no girders. no bridges. nothing floor to bottom b4 the pivot point

All hard questions to answer. Blue tracks do have the most options when speaking of different types of track pieces. Best way to see whats available would be like a lot of us have done in the beginning is to watch lots of YouTube videos and then ask questions on the different types of track you see, thats how I learned. With the blue track you have many manual points but also have a great option of of automatic 2-way & 3-way points along with an automatic transfer station that allows for two trains to occupy one loop. Ucwepns Layout is a good one that meets most of your criteria. Except for one small elevated line and a long bridge which is not really an overhead bridge but a ground level bridge that allows for the lake/ocean/river to pass underneath. Ideas are limitless with these blue tracks, how much space will you have? Floor or table top?
the floor. i started this layout days ago. it consists of 4 sections. it is currently 10' x 10' and about 3' tall. it consists of all types of track. tomy, trackmaster and rev.
the rough draft is nearly complete. when i ran into a dilemma.
i start digging thru wht i have and came across some pieces that would solve it. but either i need more or there may be something better.
it there a website tht strictly deals with pieces related to blue tracks?
what i'm looking for and or need is a clip tht will support 2 blue tracks in mid air.
If you are talking about supporting two 8.5" straight track there is a double length, 17" straight track that needs no riser support in the middle. A picture of each dilemma might solicit more suggestions.

3' tall, I thought you mentioned not going up?

I believe it is indeed the 17'' double rail you are looking for. The clips you have found were probably rail clips used with Trackmaster sets pre-revolution that had vertical plastic pieces that connected on either side to it to form risers.

I suppose this link to the official Tomy Japan website would be subsequent enough in knowing what rails and scenic parts are available for you to get. The list is a relatively good representation of what you can find, but I would suggest employing eBay when actually purchasing the parts because they are quite easy to find new in package if you look: http://www.takaratomy.co.jp/products/pla.../index.htm

This is also a list I think is more visually pleasing (which also includes the scenic parts to make your layout more interesting. Good luck!)

a clip tht would support 2 tracks. these 2 tracks of course would have a support on either end.

wht i have ( the clips i have) is not there. its a girder 3" x 3". soft plastic light weight

thts where i differ, in regards to blue tracks. everything is liner. i could easily string 5 or more rev tracks and not worry about a collapse. but im trying to use blue here to make a reference to lady and the magic railroad episode

i'll post a pic tonite or tommoro. maybe wht i have isnt tomy. it doesnt have the logo

The images from the Plarail catalogs, do you have a source for those? I am planning on trying to acquire a wide range of years of these catalogs and then scan them and post here on BPT. If that already exists though I will save the time and trouble.. Big Grin

I don't believe I understand the true nature of the problem. I do understand how the revolution tracks essentially "clip into" each other, while the design of Tomy's tracks make a riser under each point of connection a necessity. As you plan to solely use blue tracks, is your problem that you simply don't have enough risers? As Super had said, the 17'' double track, (which is twice the length of the traditional straight track, and generally if you haven't sought out for it specifically, it's probably not in your collection; I am 95% sure it never came in any Tomy sets sold in the US or UK as part of the Motor Road and Rail or Plarail sets) would help with this problem. I suggest viewing this video from Diesel D199: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-O9WDmcU26A because it not only is quite entertaining but it, more importantly, provides a blatant comparison between double track and the other straight tracks.

Actually, I had gotten the two images from a thread I had bookmarked myself for reference a while back: https://www.blueplastictracks.com/showth...p?tid=2005

However, I do not recall any thread with an archive of pages from past catalogs (though that would be awesome!). I will look around myself to see where the images originated from and will see if I can find some information of some use.

Those are very interesting risers, are from TOMY or something else?
