When would one want to use the transparent paint to let the colors bleed through? Maybe in weathering which is something I would like to try. I have been looking at the Vallejo basic color sets to get started. Does everyone know that Amazon, under the cover of darkness last night, raised the minimum purchase amount for free shipping from $35usd to $49usd?

I would really like to see how hard it is to do camo paint schemes. Is that what you are after for the R/C Tanks or just weathering or both?

Weathering you get special paints and solutions for various special effects, so its not so much about that, its more to obtain graduated colour effects for greater realism Smile

Soft-edge camo schemes are great fun, and here's one I did earlier..... (any excuse to post yet another picture of one of Harold's very distant cousins). And it's set me thinking about a new line of possible loco customs........

@Nigels
Thanks for that info. Will have to look into the special weathering paints and solutions.

You are probably having the same thoughts as I have had. Great looking Chopper. What is the scale of those?
The Spray Booth arrived today and it is AWESOME. Great suction, well built, super fast and well packed shipping. Check out the picture as I have placed our latest mod inside to give you an idea of how large the painting area is, quite big if you ask me. I didn't hook up the exhaust hose yet, but besides that the booth folds up very neatly for storage when not in use which I love.

Nice i may have to get one of those, what exactly are the dimensions of it? Just asking in case it is big enough for the 1/16th tanks. Although there would be absolutely no chance of getting my latest aquisition in there - a 1/6th scale Stuart M5 light tank. I mean it is only a light recon tank, but put it alongside my 1/16th tiger and it looks enormous, or the Tiger tiny depending on your viewpoint, yet the tiger itself is well over a foot long (not including the gun barrel) Big Grin

Dimensions when Set-Up: 16.5" Wide x 19" Deep x 13.5" High

Also they advertise that you can connect two units side by side for double the area and double the suction.

There are also many YouTube videos on how to make your own spray paint booth. Some of them use a large plastic storage container.
I now have everything and all the accessories I have ordered to get started on Airbrushing. Hopefully I can set up a station and get some practicing in this weekend. Look what arrived today. This looks great and well worth the cost if you ask me. Look at the neat airbrush gun cases for storage that comes with the set and each gun comes with its own plastic pipette. Very cool. Smile

Very nice Super, thanks for the info on the spraying booth, I think I probably would need two to get my Tigers and similar heavy tanks into for painting, mind you even the smaller 1/16 would barely fit so yes would have to be two lol!!

Love the cases those guns come in, the ones I picked up are in plastic cases, but the old stiff type clear plastic which of course cracks as soon as you look at it (which they did in the post lol). Still I'm not buying more yet just to get some new cases, I'll find a better option somewhere Smile

How much would a basic airbrushing kit cost? It would definitely be helpful for when I make my custom Logan. Well, first I should learn how to use the MakerBot 3D modelling software.

Still haven't painted FFF's Daisy lol sorry my guy (i promise I'll get that airbrush kit soon)
I have finally completed rearranging and doing some remodeling of the laundry room and created an Airbrushing cabinet and a painting station that is easily folded up when not in use. The cabinet is used for all the airbrushing supplies including paints, Paint booth, compressor etc.

Been practicing and I think I am going to like this. I first used the "brush up paper" with water that Anc6802 suggested and that was a great place to get the feel of the guns. The best practice though came with actually using paint on practice pieces. I can't believe how just a little paint goes such a long way. I have to pick up some better clear coat finish paint as I didn't like airbrushing the MicroScale brand. My first airbrushing will be used to finish the latest Mod named "Hard Boiled"
