Where to find Tomy and Plarail Thomas trains?

Hey everyone at BluePlasticTracks!

I've been looking on TradeMe (New Zealand equivalent of Ebay) and I find that most Tomy Thomas trains are about $20 NZ upwards, but I don't usually have the cash to buy Thomas trains a lot of the time. I've managed to get some money, $40 NZ, but that would only just get me two smaller engines, and that isn't including shipping!

Since everyone here has helpful tips about everything Thomas, I was wondering if any of you know a cheap way of getting Tomy Thomas trains second hand with cheap shipping (even if they are damaged because I could try fixing them).

Yes trying buying used lots!!

Sunhuntin may have some suggestions for you. Thrift or second hand stores in your area might me a good choice.

hate to be a misery but save up for what you want, i think you will enjoy it more but that's old age talking haha

if you spend enough time searching, perhaps for a budget model, i am sure you will find what you want - I found a new train for less than £8 UK British Pounds somewhere but I'm not sure where that was now, on some cut price shopping type site I think. the colours were a but garish but hey, it was a running train.

I know this isn't good news, but I've found the cheapest engine and tracks come in large used mixed lots with tracks and trains. If you devide the total amount paid by the amount of items it usually turns out that you have a good deal, although of course you need the good sum of money in the first place to buy the lot,

Thanks guys for the useful tips! I've never thought about buying a big lot of engines and track, those usually cost more but, as Tramp said, "If you divide the total amount paid by the amount of items it usually turns out that you have a good deal."

I agree. The big lots are where it is at.

I purchased a lot of around 50pcs including mostly engines and some rolling stock. I kept maybe 1/4 of it and sold the rest. I made almost 4 times what I paid for it. So the deals are out there, just have to find them before someone else.

try local ebay sellers and trade me you have to keep looking and eventually the right lot will pop up and hopefully it's described or titled incorrectly and you can nab it cheap Try searching for terms like job lot, thomas lot, toy train lot, etc

or try craig's list. Before you buy them make sure you test the engines. Some of the engines people sell don't work.
